In five weeks, we are going to share the biggest news and updates in beehiiv company history, live during our first-ever Winter Release Event.

It’s a virtual livestream event, and it’d mean the world to me for you to be there. Seriously, you all have been reading this newsletter and following the journey week after week, and I’d love for you to be in attendance to witness our biggest announcement yet.

When: Thursday November 13th 1-2p EST
How: RSVP here πŸ‘ˆ

The first newsletter I ever wrote was titled 4am Club. I had been so locked in and invigorated about the future of beehiiv (and life in general) that this excitement would genuinely wake me up in the middle of the night, almost always at 4am.

I’d toss and turn thinking about new features and growth strategies that would totally override my desire for sleep. It sounds sort of lame I suppose, but the clarity of thought and exuberance had my mind racing as if I took 30mg of adderall before bed.

It first started occurring back when beehiiv was just a side project, before we ever launched or went full-time. After a few failed startup attempts in college, I could sense that this one would be different.

The frequency of these 4am episodes has ebbed and flowed since, but has been a weekly occurrence since the inception of the Winter Release Event two months ago.

I was returning home from my fourth founder mastermind in Costa Rica inspired and full of new ideas. Something clicked and I had a vision for something more ambitious than anything we had attempted before.

I stayed up all Friday night then spent the rest of the weekend building a presentation to share with the team on Monday.

Which by the way, has to be the absolute coolest part about being a founder. This thing didn’t even exist Friday afternoon, yet come Monday morning I had already rallied 100 people to begin executing on it.

And since, we have been full steam ahead on this thing. We have an entire task force of engineers building our most ambitious features yet, and dozens of others preparing for what’s next.

The Winter Release Event won’t be just a compilation of flashy features. We’re entering new markets and creating a category of our own, with some pretty massive announcements to back it all up.

Being a founder requires an unhealthy amount of cognitive dissonance and a delusional sense of optimism. I had been confidently telling the team this would be a multi-billion dollar company way back when we were barely making $10K a month. I genuinely believed it then, and I believe it now more than ever.

And perhaps it is a bit more believable now. We have 3.5x our revenue since our Series B last April, which then valued the business at $225M.

Numbers aside, what I’m actually most excited about is what it’ll mean for our users, the creator economy, and the broader content ecosystem at large. Building a business is fun, but building a business that delivers positive outcomes for others is what makes it all worth it.

  • Milk Road went from nothing to near 8-figure acquisition in just 10 months.

  • HubSpot acquired Mindstream just 17 months after launching on beehiiv.

  • The Nerve, a female-founded news org in the U.K., launched last week and already has over 1,000 paying readers (🀯).

  • Julia Knight, former CMO at Citizen, claims her simple weekly newsletter has been the highest ROI initiative of her career.

  • Ben Teller, who didn’t know a thing about email or newsletters, launched The Blueprint on beehiiv from zilch. He built it into one of the most successful real estate newsletters before selling it last year. beehiiv genuinely changed his life.

And I believe that beehiiv can (and will) change the lives of so many others. I have heard so many stories like those above, it was difficult to choose just a few.

In fact, in just the past 24 hours (legit) I received this text and email.

Those stories are what get me out of bed in the morning (and what wakes me up at 4am). And with our upcoming announcements during the beehiiv Winter Release Event, I think they are about to become a whole lot more common.
